The course materials for "Foreign Animal Disease Response: Training for Emergency Responders" have been reviewed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service. These materials are in compliance with existing National Animal Health Emergency Management System (NAHEMS) Guidelines, which were established by APHIS for emergency response personnel in the event of a major animal health emergency (August 2005).

The mission of the Western Insititute for Food Safety and Security is to conduct research and deliver services that will enhance food safety in all sectors of the food systems' continuum from environment to consumer.
